Finding somewhere to visit with kids in tow is never easy. If you choose the wrong place, you are going to hear the words… This Is Boring!!! You see, it would be wrong of you to drag your kids’ places that are guaranteed to frustrate and put them off travel for life. But then again, you don’t want to cater to your child’s every whim. A family holiday is just that, a holiday for the whole family! The adults need to enjoy it as much as the kids do. With that in mind, we have travelled the globe (okay, so we googled the subject), to find out where the best family holidays are. We have picked out our favourites, so have a look at our selection below.
The best destinations for a wonderful family holiday, in no particular order, are as follows.
One of the top tourist destinations in the world, and one we have already featured on our website. Check out my list of fun things to do to find out more. And yes, Walt Disney World is on that list, and so are the fabulous beaches, both of which are great for all the family. But there is so much more besides. Visit the dolphins at the Florida Keys, go alligator spotting at the Everglades, sightsee from a speedboat, explore the barrier reefs, and if you’re visiting in December, check out the winter festivals. Florida is a popular place for young and old alike, and while Mickey Mouse will be high on everybody’s agenda, there is still much more to explore.
Here is an unusual entry on the list, as not many people associate Singapore with a family holiday. However, that isn’t true. There’s a reason why many families move to the city to live, in areas such as the Choa Chu Kang hdb estate, and that’s because its safe! Honestly, it’s been voted as one of the safest places in the world. It’s one of the cleanest and most hygienic places too! Of course, after you and your brood have visited, we can’t guarantee what kind of state you will leave the city in, but at least you have the peace of mind that your kids are going to be safe on holiday. And they will love the city too, as will you, as there are all kinds of things to do with the family. Singapore has its very own Universal Studios, as well as free water parks for theme park lovers. There’s a Legoland too, as well the fabulous Discovery Centre, with 3D movies and interactive experiences. And you will all love the modern high-tech architecture of the city, with one area, the Gardens by the Bay, looking like something from the world of Avatar. There are also plenty of places to explore away from the city, with hiking trails and scuba diving adventures alike, meaning everybody in the family should be well-catered for.
The perfect destination for families looking for a winter holiday. This Finnish coldspot is where your children can visit Santa and his magical elves. You see, he really does exist! You can also go for a sleigh ride pulled along by Rudolf, Dasher, and co (we are assuming that’s what the reindeer are called). There’s also skiing, snowmobiling, snowy hikes, and plenty of opportunities for family snowball fights. What’s not to love? Oh, and there’s the beautiful Northern Lights to gaze in awe at too, so this is truly one place where magic is guaranteed to happen for everybody in the family. You might still be able to book your holiday today! Just don’t forget to wrap up warm if you visit, and don’t delay Santa for too long with your visit; he does have a job to do you know!
There’s a reason why millions of people head to the sunnier climes of Spain for their family holiday, and that’s because it’s perfect for all the family. The hotels are child-friendly, the beaches span for miles, there are snorkelling opportunities aplenty, caves to explore, and for theme park lovers, Spain also boasts Europe’s tallest (and fastest) rollercoaster. Spain is host to some of Europe’s greatest events too, so whenever you visit, there is bound to be something going on nearby. You can check out a comprehensive list here, with everything from kite-flying at the International Festival of the Wind, to the medieval fair of Montblanc, with dragons and damsels in distress! Quite literally, Spain is one of the hottest places to visit, so whether you luxuriate on the beaches, explore the sights, or spend hours by your hotel’s swimming pool while your kids splash around, this is one place where your family won’t be disappointed.
Take your family for a once-in-a-lifetime trip here, and the wonderful memories you make will last forever. This is a place for those who want to live out their greatest Indiana Jones fantasies, or for anybody looking to relax. Or you can do both. There are adventure parks, water parks, and safaris aplenty. You can explore the Mayan ruins, take jungle trails, and climb up pyramids. Relax in lazy rivers and pools, or zip-line your way down to the coast to get your heart pumping. Take a tour boat and spot dolphins, whales, and sea turtles. Do all this and more, while playing the Raiders theme tune in your head when in action, or listening to a Mariachi band while you’re lazing on the white sandy beaches. Mexico has something for everybody, so if while reading this that famous Mexican saying came to your mind, “Arriba Arriba Andale Andale,” know that it’s time to go. Because, literally, that is what the saying means – “go, go, come on, come on!” What are you waiting for?
So, if you’re looking for a wonderful family holiday, in a place that will suit everybody, we think we have given you some good ideas. Of course, if you know better, or you have other destinations in mind, then be sure to let us know your thoughts. Take care, enjoy your next family holiday and thanks for reading!
