This blog post is in collaboration with giffgaff, who supplied me with the games, tech and other treats to host my own games night – which you’ll see referenced throughout this post. All thoughts/images are my own.
Adult life can sometimes be quite hectic and it’s easy to neglect seeing your friends in person. Life just happens and before you know it, you may have not seen your friends for a while. Some of my friends, including my boyfriend, have the same interests as me and enjoy games/gaming. The mobile network giffgaff kindly offered me a load of awesome goodies so I could host my own games night and reconnect with friends. I chose a select few of my friends who I knew would enjoy a games night as much as we would, created/designed my own invites and then sent them their invite in a private group chat. I wish I could have invited more of my friends but our apartment simply isn’t big enough! In the end the final guest list was myself, Kiel (my boyfriend), Zac and Jake (who are twins and two of our closest friends).
I collected an amazing package full of brilliant goodies which included three games from Big Potato Games, 5 giffgaff preloaded sim cards, a GoPro, an Anker USB plug charger, an Amazon echo dot, a £50 JustEat voucher to order food, a games night winner trophy and some giffgaff goodies including stickers and a bag. We are obsessed with the Amazon echo dot, as we had such fun asking her questions and we set up Apple Music and Spotify on her so we were able to play music in the background as we played the games.
The first games of the night we played was Obama Llama 2. I’d never heard of any of the games we’d been sent, but I was impressed. Obama Llama 2 involves miming or describing rhymes from the cards. I was shockingly bad at this game as I don’t cope well with being put on the spot (apologies mainly to Zac who was paired up with me). Jake and Kiel were both the winners of the first game!
Our second game of the night was Bucket Of Doom, which I have to say was my favourite. Possibly because I was the winner of this game haha. This game is a lot like Cards Against Humanity, but if anything it’s better because you have to come up with a reason for why you’ve chosen that card to escape the situation presented. All of us really enjoyed this game and we’ll definitely be playing it again in future.
The concept of this game is to guess what people search for. Basically, imagine the things people type into Google. Some of the answers were eye opening and rather weird, I don’t know what else I expected to be honest. The final round of this game was Jake vs Zac. After an intense tiebreaker, Zac was the winner of this game. Sorry Jake!
Later in the evening, it was time to order our food! We were so thankful that we were gifted a £50 JustEat voucher to spend on food between the four of us. Before the evening, I’d had a quick look at JustEat to find ideas of suitable options for Jake as he’s vegan and Zac as he’s vegetarian. On the evening, we decided to order from Turtle Bay via JustEat as the dietary options were great for all of us. There was soooo much food and it was all very tasty.
The overall winner of the #giffgaffgamers games night was, Zac! Look at him with his trophy. Cheekily, I kept the Big Potato Games plushie for myself because he’s cute. My friends were all rather impressed with the game and told me they really enjoyed the evening. So many laughs were had, it was loads of fun and we had such a blast! Thank you so much to giffgaff mobile and Big Potato Games for gifting me so many wonderful things to help me host my games night.
