Review: The Vegan Kind – Lifestyle Box

For a while now I’d noticed people on Twitter getting excited over a subscription box, called The Vegan Kind.

Although I’m not vegan, I am dairy free so I figured this box would be perfect for me.

The Vegan Kind is a monthly subscription box, which has two different options. You can subscribe to the lifestyle box, or the beauty box. Obviously, all products that come in the box are vegan.

I love the idea of trying products that I probably wouldn’t get to try, unless I went out of my way to directly order them via the internet.

The retail value of products inside the box is guaranteed to be more than £10.

Inside the May lifestyle box I received:

  • Chika’s Chilli Plantain Crisps
  • Sarelle Hazelnut & Dark Chocolate Cream Filled Wafer
  • Ecobamboo Medium Toothbrush with Round Handle
  • Olive Branch Mezze Sundried Tomato Paste
  • Good Full Stop Fruit and Nut Based Mint Chocolate Bar
  • Taking The Pea Sweet Chilli Salsa
  • Recipe card

Unfortunately, I’m intolerant to chilli and I like to avoid it as best I can. So I haven’t tried the chilli products, but I’ve read great reviews from other bloggers on those products.

Sarelle Hazelnut & Dark Chocolate Cream Filled Wafer

I’ve seen many vegans talking about finding these bars in a couple of shops across the UK, but I’d had no luck. I’m so thrilled that this was included in the box. I adore dark chocolate and I wasn’t disappointed with this at all. Such a brilliant and tasty snack.

Good Full Stop Fruit and Nut Based Mint Chocolate Bar

I love having snacks which I can just pop in my handbag. Mint is one of my favourite flavours for sweet food, so this was perfect. I found it filling and satisfying. I’d happily purchase this product in future.

Olive Branch Mezze Sundried Tomato Paste

I’m a huge fan of Olive Branch products anyway, so when I noticed their paste inside this months box – I was so happy. I sometimes shy away from pastes and mixes as I’m very paranoid about them containing milk. I decided to have this paste mixed with some pasta and vegetables for my lunch on Wednesday, which I really enjoyed! It tasted absolutely delicious and I’ve since also mixed the paste with some noodles for my tea yesterday. Big thumbs up from me!

Ecobamboo Medium Toothbrush with Round Handle

This toothbrush is made from moso bamboo, which isn’t eaten by pandas. This means their food hasn’t been taken away to make this product. This is such a unique product which is friendly to the environment.

The great thing is, you can cancel your subscription at any time. This is good as I’ve seen other subscription boxes where opting-out can be quite complicated.

I was also really impressed that 10p from each box sold in May will be donated to Hugletts Wood Farm Animal Sanctuary.

Summary:

  • Subscription boxes are a great way of discovering new products and brands
  • I love that savoury products and sweet products were included
  • All the products I tried were yummy and unique
  • 10p from each box in May is donated to the charity of the month
  • You can cancel your subscription at any time

Those all look like good products but I’m not sure there’s £10 value there. Did you feel it was worth spending that much? Was there a postage charge as well?

Hi there! There was a postage charge, but if you’re buying the box for the first time, there’s usually a discount code to enter which eliminates the postage cost pretty much 🙂 I paid approx £10 for this months box because of the discount code I used.

      Chika’s Chilli Platain Crisps – RRP 1.39
Sarelle Hazelnut & Dark Chocolate Cream Filld Wafer – RRP 75p
      Ecobamboo Toothbrush – RRP 4.00
Olive Branch Mezze – RRP 2.99
Good Full Stop Mint Chocolate Bar – RRP 99p
Sweet Chilli Salsa – RRP 1.50

When I added it all up, it was £11+ – hope this answers your question 🙂

Probably for me, because I can’t have products that contain chilli, I then didn’t eat or try two of the products so it would be more worth it if I was able to eat all the products!

Thanks for your reply. I usually buy value toothbrushes, £4 is pretty steep and seems like kind of a cop out on this kind of box, but useful to know about the postage offers.

As I struggle with my vegan diet transition…this is a great idea. I’m in the US and will research this. Thanks
