Review: Gin Masterclass – The Botanist York

Recently I was invited to The Botanist in York for a gin masterclass with a select group of other York bloggers. I was able to bring along a plus one so I took along my ex-house mate, Jess, who I know loves her food and drink as much as I do. I’ve previously visited The Botanist in York on two other occasions, the first for their VIP opening evening and the other time was for their bloggers evening. I was never really a big gin drinker, until I attended events like these at The Botanist and the Gin Festival.

The Botanist is a pub/restaurant in York which serves a selection of drinks such as botanical cocktails, delicious craft beers, champagne and wine. Our evening began with an introduction to how the evening would go ahead, learning about the varieties of gin and the history of gin. It was genuinely so interesting! Throughout the evening, a selection of different food was brought out to share between the table, such as the delicious hanging kebab and home made pork crackling.

My favourite drink of all at the moment from The Botanist is the cocktail which comes in a tea pot. I can’t remember the name of it for the life of me – sorry! Bad blogger! We also made our own gin cocktail ourselves, which was rather tasty, if I do say so myself.

Thank you so much to The Botanist York for having myself and a guest along to attend your event once again. I really enjoyed my evening at the Gin Masterclass and I loved learning about the history of gin. Our host was incredibly knowledgeable and it was obvious he is passionate about all things gin. I love The Botanist! I had great fun doing the same masterclass at the Birmingham one 🙂 The teapot cocktail was my favourite too 🙂
