Recently Furniture At Work approached me and asked if I would like to write a blog post about bosses offices from films and TV shows, also known as #OnscreenOffices. This kind of thing is right up my street, as I find it so interesting and unique. Although it may not seem obvious at first, there are a lot of bosses offices which you can take awesome office design inspiration from, which can be found in popular films and TV shows.
This is one of my favourite films, ever. Miranda Priestly is the editor of Runway – a high-end fashion magazine, which explains why her office is beautifully arranged and organised. There are plenty of fresh, colourful flowers placed around the office and magazines/books are dotted about, I’m assuming for inspiration and references whilst her and her team are working.
When you think about it, the offices in films and TV shows are generally always beautiful and well thought out. For example, a favourite of mine and most memorable office is Dumbledore’s office from the Harry Potter films. I love that his office has so many portraits hung around the room. His office is stunning and split into three tiers, in an unusual shape, with the middle tier as the main room which includes Dumbledore’s desk.
Mr Burns is a fan favourite of those who watch the TV show, The Simpsons, even though his character can be very selfish. Based on the top floor of the nuclear power plant where Homer Simpson works, Mr Burns office is mostly empty but it does contain trap doors in the floor. You can find further office design inspiration on the Furniture At Work website, and some further inspiration from films and TV shows in this useful blog post about office floor plans.
