I’d never been to a Hull based bloggers even before, so when I spotted a place available for the Hull Bloggers March Meet – I snapped up the spare spot in a flash. I’m honestly so glad I did because it was such a lovely afternoon with fantastic company and food. Now, this post is so much longer than I’d imagined it would be. I did consider separating it into two posts but I’ve decided to do it this way instead.
I was born in Hull and I still have a home in the city, so it means I have somewhere to stay around the event – which is always helpful. Anyway, on Thursday I headed to Hull to spend time with my family and to attend the #HBMarchMeet.
The Hull Bloggers March Meet took place at Al Porto, which is an Italian restaurant down by the docks. I was a little nervous before, but I just took deep breaths to help with my anxiety. My first impressions when I walked in was that the venue was very spacious, well laid out/presented and everyone was really friendly.
For lunch I chose the Winter Salad, which looked and tasted absolutely awesome. The food was really well presented on the plate. Many of us opted for the Winter Salad but I had a quick glance at other bloggers plates who’d ordered something different – their food also looked delicious. I’d happily return to Al Porto again for lunch or dinner.
After we’d finished eating, each individual person had a question on a piece of paper to ask the group so we could get to know each other a little better. Some of the questions were blogging related and others were more about our life in general. This was such a good idea to aid us in learning about other bloggers.
#HBMarchMeet Bloggers Goodie Bag
This bloggers goodie bag though! So much hard work and effort went into putting this together, you can really tell. It was packed full with awesome items that I’d love to try but wouldn’t usually get the chance to buy myself. I think I’ve definitely found some new favourite products. As you can see in the photo above, the lovely Lucy is checking out what she got in her bloggers goodie bag.
Portlebay Popcorn – When I saw lemon sherbet flavoured popcorn, I thought “surely that can’t be nice?” I’m funny about lemon flavoured things anyway. Oh my god, it tasted incredible. I’d happily buy more bags. I was really impressed and so were my family. I let them sample some haha.
Kiko Milano – I’ve heard so much about this brand from my friends. I can’t wait to test out these products, I love the brush. The colour of it is amazing.
Santoro London – I’m so delighted with my cat mug. It’s actually a really pretty mug. I kind of don’t want to use it because it’s genuinely that nice.
L.A.B.2 – These brushes look so good. I can’t wait to use them.
Stick To Stigu – As bloggers, we like getting organised. I’m always in need of a new planner. I can’t wait to use this bad boy.
Gillette Venus – Us ladies are always in need of a decent razor.
The Curl Company – I have naturally curly hair which is such a nightmare. I’d been keeping an eye out for some products to try help tame my curls. As soon as I saw these in the goodie bag, I was over the moon. I’ve been using these non-stop since.
Crazy Angel – Fake tan isn’t usually my thing, but I actually want to give this a try next time I’m going on a night out.
Good Things Beauty – This body wash has argan oil in it and I used it yesterday in the shower, it smells so wonderful. It left my skin feeling extremely soft.
Baylis & Harding – These guys are one of my favourite brands at the moment, so you can imagine how thrilled I was when I spotted the flower therapy gift set in my bag. Absolutely love it.
Nailene – With these things it’s luck of the draw, I did see some of the other girls struck gold (in my opinion) and got glittery nails. I did get some lovely pink ones though.
Luscombe – I’m not a huge fan of ginger beer so I let my dad try most of it, but I did have a sip. It actually tasted so much nicer than ginger beer usually does. The one I was really excited to try though was the pink one. It tasted proper lovely and refreshing, with the light hint of rose.
Gosh – I am currently going through a bit of a lipstick obsession, I’m always looking to discover new ones. This is the Matt Plum which looks such a gorgeous colour.
Sass & Belle – I am obsessed with animals, especially dogs. I absolutely love the dog shaped nail file from these guys.
Studio 10 Beauty – I got a brow lift perfecting liner, which I’m looking forward to testing out.
Thank you to Kat for organising such an incredible bloggers goodie bag. Thank you for putting on such a wonderful event, I really enjoyed my first Hull bloggers event. This was so well organised and ran pretty smoothly. It was a pleasure to meet all the lovely bloggers at this event. Well done to the organisers, you should be proud! I literally can’t wait for the next Hull event!
Fancy keeping up to date with what’s going on?
