Having standards means not settling for less, which I believe is so important in dating and relationships. Some of the most successful people in the world, talk about how little they had when it all began. Some talk about how they were homeless, or didn’t have just one place they called home, yet when they began to realise enough was enough – their lives started to change.
Unfortunately, modern dating is about having to kiss some frogs until you find someone at least half decent. Especially when looking online, you might want to narrow your search down to more local websites such as a Southampton dating site, Manchester dating site, or Hertfordshire dating site. There are also many niche websites to meet others within a certain age group, for example, over 50s dating Isle of Wight and over 50s dating Bristol.
When meeting someone new, try doing so with your eyes and mind open. On this years Love Island, the popular term “On Paper” was used constantly by the contestants. Just because someone seems like they might be your type on paper, doesn’t necessarily mean they are the right person for you.
You want someone who makes time for you and they will ask you questions to learn more about you. You don’t need to put up with someone who thinks its acceptable to call you awful names (you are NOT a c**t, fyi). Name calling in an aggressive way/manner is totally not OK.
Focus on positivity and meeting someone who you deem to be worthy. Don’t be afraid to set the bar high. Perhaps this means you may have less dates, but at least you won’t be spending time trying to get to know someone who is a waste of space. Why should you settle for less than you deserve?
