When it comes to decorating, we don’t all have the time or money to invest in doing a full makeover of a room (or multiple rooms). Adding a splash of colour can be an affordable way of adjusting the feel or theme of your home. Below are my suggestions on simple ways you can add a splash of colour to your home and liven up your décor.

Paint one wall for an extra splash of colour

You could add a bold splash of colour to a room by painting just one of the walls in the room. This alters the focal point of the room and you will avoid taking on a major redecorating project. Any change of colour will add an interesting change, whether you pick a bold colour from a floral print or a subtle darker tone compared to the other walls.

Add some colourful cushions and pillows

Through soft furnishings you can add a splash of colour to a room. By using grey as the base colour, add a bright or bold colour in the form of artwork, cushions, a rug, etc. This can be an easy and affordable option, especially if you are living in a rented property, where you may be unable to make drastic changes to the décor. Primark is a great place to start when looking for cushion inspiration for your décor.

A splash of colour in the form of plants and flowers

Plants and flowers add a variety of colour, fragrance, personality and good vibes to a home. If you don’t want the responsibility of caring for them, there are some beautiful artificial plants and flowers available to buy at the moment.

Pair up some new window blinds

You can treat yourself to some new window blinds and match them with regards to colour and/or material. There are so many different styles and designs available, so you will be able to choose something which suites your décor style and theme. Certain types of windows such as bay windows can be particularly hard to style, however you can purchase suitable bay window blinds which are made to measure.

Do you use any of these in your own home already? Have you got an additional suggestions? Let me know in the comments.
