5 Ways to Improve Your Commute to Work

If you are forced to tackle public transport when heading to or from work each day, you more than likely dread the commute. Yet, your travel experience doesn’t need to be dull and boring, as there are ways to utilise your time, which will allow you to relax, de-stress or increase your productivity levels. If you want to transform a dull journey into a pleasant experience, read the following five ways to improve your commute to work.

  1. Embrace Enjoyable Activities to Pass the Time

Life is filled with obligations. Not only might you have to go to work each day, but you also might have children to care for and a house to run, which can cause a considerable amount of stress and pressure. That is why you must make the most of what little downtime you have available to pursue an enjoyable activity. For example, you could play a game on your smartphone, call a friend for a catch-up, or you could catch up on the latest black gossip at The Shade Room.

 

  1. Focus on Mindfulness

If you have a hectic professional and personal life, you probably don’t have much time to sit down and focus on the many blessings in life. If you are sitting on a bus, train or in a car, spend the large majority of your time focusing on your thoughts and feelings, and think of the many positive aspects of your life. Practicing mindfulness could help to eradicate a loop of negative emotions, so you will feel happier and more relaxed once you arrive at work.

 

  1. Write a To-Do List

Don’t spend your commute worrying about how you’re going to eliminate important tasks and spend your journey writing a to-do list. Not only will it provide you with mental clarity, but you’ll also know exactly what you need to do once you arrive at work. As a result, you’ll feel happier and more productive, and you won’t have wasted one minute of your day.

Do you often spend your commute staring out of a window? Make better use of your time by picking up a good book, which can help you to pass the time. There are a number of options to choose from for an enjoyable commute, such as:

If you have a smartphone, an internet connection and a set of headphones, download a streaming station to discover new music or listen to your own playlist. An upbeat song could potentially lift your mood, which could provide you with a great start to the day and will ensure you feel 100% ready for whatever work throws at you. It could also lead to you finding a favourite new artist, which will have made the commute worth all the hassle.
